11th Annual Bowling with Heart – February 22, 2026

Join us as we celebrate All Things OHSU’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and everything they do for our kids and for our community. Our 11th Annual Bowling with Heart Bowl-a-Thon is going to be our biggest one yet – rolling into our Beaverton *AND* Vancouver locations on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026! Join us at either location for a day full of FUN for families, friends, colleagues, and YOU and help us raise money for an amazing cause! Sophie’s Story

Big Al’s has always jumped at the chance to work with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, but for our CEO Daniel Kirkwood, the partnership is incredibly & overwhelmingly personal, too; his beautiful daughter Sophia is a Doernbecher Baby!

In late May 2013, Sophia was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. Leading up to her birth and for the first six months of her life, Daniel and Sophie’s Mother Melissa practically lived at Doernbecher. Sophie ultimately underwent three open-heart surgeries before she was even four years old – there’s no question that the Doctors & Nurses at Doernbecher literally saved her life. The care Sophie received was second-to-none, but more than that, the Doernbecher staff also cared for the entire Kirkwood family during what was beyond an incredibly stressful & difficult time.

Thanks to Doernbecher, Sophie is now a healthy and happy 12-year old girl who is full of life! Our annual Bowling with Heart event is our way of giving back to this amazing organization and ensuring that future Doernbecher kids get the same attention and care that Sophie did.
