Big Al’s is the premier family-owned & family-friendly Entertainment Destination with locations in Beaverton, OR, Meridian, ID, Ontario, CA, Silicon Valley, CA, and Vancouver, WA.
Integrated in to the fabric of local communities and with 45,000-70,000 SQFT of the latest arcade games, 18-42 bowling lanes, and the region’s largest HD projection screens (55’!) as focal points of stadium-style Sports Bars, Big Al’s appeals to families, sports enthusiasts, event planners and anyone looking for a great time with great food in a contemporary NW-style atmosphere.
Perfectly suited for large groups, Big Al’s is also a favorite of corporate event planners, sports teams, community groups, and high schools.
After visiting a smoke-free bowling alley in Central Oregon — and after having a great time, of course! — real estate developers Al & Sandee Kirkwood recognized that there wasn’t necessarily a clean, safe & fun place they could take their grandkids near their hometown. Along with their son Daniel, they then traveled the US looking at family fun centers, bowling alleys, and family-friendly restaurants only to realize that their ultimate vision didn’t really exist. To that end, Big Al’s was born.
Opened in 2006, Big Al’s Vancouver (WA) was the first of its kind to bring bowling lanes, an arcade, and a sports book-style restaurant under one roof. The industry wasn’t sure what to call Big Al’s at the time, so the term “hybrid” Family Entertainment Center (FEC) was born. After four successful years, they launched their second Big Al’s in Beaverton, OR, in 2010, and their third in 2012 in Meridian, Idaho.
As the retail landscape has changed, so too have the opportunities to continue to grow and bring family-friendly entertainment to additional markets, including the Inland Empire in Southern California where Big Al’s Ontario opened to much community and industry fanfare in 2017. And NOW OPEN, Big Al’s newest venture in California’s Silicon Valley.
Our Commitment to Community
Big Al’s is committed to our local communities and support as many events and organizations as possible. If you are interested in submitting a Donation Request, please use the form at the bottom of this page. However, please note: to make the most impact, we choose to focus our giving efforts to those organizations who primarily serve local kids, including:
- Boys & Girls Clubs
- Local Food Banks (did you know that upwards of 40% of Food Bank recipients are children?)
- Families overcoming domestic abuse
- Children’s Hospitals
Our Big Al’s Big Hearts volunteers also do quarterly projects in the community from building homes to packing food to teaching water safety to hosting blood drives. We couldn’t be who we are without our communities, so we strive to give back.
